Police reveal identity of suspect in Hulhumale’ transformer robbery and assault

The police have disclosed the identity of the suspect arrested for attempting to rob a STELCO transformer in Hulhumale’ Phase II and assaulting a STELCO employee in the process.
The arrested has been identified as Ibrahim Zalif, 37, from Sh. Bilehfahi. According to the police, the suspect was arrested at 9:43 pm on Tuesday night for assaulting STELCO employees who intervened to stop him from robbing the transformer near Reethi Gas Magu.
In a post on X, STELCO’s Managing Director Hussain Fahmy revealed that the suspect had struck a STELCO employee on the head with a wrench. The employee had narrowly avoided death or a permanent disability as a result of the assault, he said. The company commended the employee’s bravery and courage in the situation.
