Police increase presence in gang-prone areas in Male’ and Hulhumale’
Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has stated that law enforcement officers are now stationed in the areas where gangs are most active in Male’ and Hulhumale’.
Speaking on police efforts in the Greater Male’ region, CP Shujau said the initiative aligns with the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, as part of police efforts to combat gang-related crimes in the Greater Male’ region. He revealed that a specialized wing has been created within the police structure to address gang crimes more effectively.
“There will be static police presence in these areas where gangs are active in the city and Hulhumale’,” he said.
According to the police, Gang Crime Enforcement conducted checks on 12,253 individuals, including minors, from January 1 to August 31 this year. Additionally, the unit also inspected 87,775 areas during the period.
