Maldives hosts CGF’s Asia and Oceania meeting for the first time
The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF)’s Asia and Oceania meeting kicked off in the Maldives today.
The event, conducted at CrossRoad, will run until Tuesday. The event brings together representatives from various countries in the region.
The meeting was inaugurated by the President of the Maldives Olympic Committee, Mohamed Abdul Sattar. Speaking at the event, he said this is the first time the CGF’s Asia and Oceania meeting is being held in Asia.
At the ceremony, Sports Minister Abdullah Rafiu thanked CGF President Chris Jenkins for choosing the Maldives to host such a significant Commonwealth meeting in the Maldives. The Minister said that the meeting will facilitate the Maldives to further strengthen relations with other countries and seek opportunities.
“We will also build strong ties with our neighboring countries in the field of sports,” he said.
CGF President Chris Jenkins said the meeting serves as a platform to exchange ideas on shaping the future of the Commonwealth Games Federation, with focus on implementing these ideas to drive improvements.
