Tourist arrivals increase by 11 percent in early January
The number of tourists that visited the Maldives during the first four days of the year has increased by 11 percent.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, 25,076 tourists visited the Maldives from January 1 to January 4, compared to 22,551 tourists that visited the Maldives during the same period last year. The current arrival average is 6,269.

Italy: 4,142 tourists
UK: 1,722 tourists
Germany: 1,440 tourists
India: 904 tourists
USA: 805 tourists
Romania: 724 tourists
Kazakhstan: 708 tourists
China: 651 tourists
Poland: 515 tourists
From the tourists that visited during this period, 70.9 percent (17,781 tourists) stayed at resorts, while 23.7 percent (710 tourists) opted to stay at local guesthouses. A total of 633 tourists holidayed on safari vessels.
There are currently 172 resorts and 929 guesthouses operating in the Maldives, in addition to 155 safaris and 15 hotels.
