Tourism Minister denounces ex-pres Yameen’s claims as baseless
Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal has refuted allegations made by former President Abdulla Yameen that he purchased land in Male’ City.
President Yameen’s party, the People’s National Front (PNF), held a rally at his residence on Friday. Speaking at the rally, the former president accused the leaders of the current government of corruption, and claimed that Minister Faisal had purchased land from Male’ City.
Yameen stated the government officials are profiting from corruption and using such funds to purchase land, apartments and other expensive properties.
Responding to President Yameen’s remarks, Faisal said in a post on X that the former President Yameen’s claim that he bought land in Male’ was an “outrageous lie”. He called on the former president and his supporters to refrain from spreading falsehood.
“I would like to take this opportunity to advise President Yameen to avoid sowing seeds of discord among the people,” Faisal said.
