Pres Dr. Muizzu re-establishes Maldives Food and Drug Authority under Food Safety Act

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has re-established the Maldives Food and Drug Authority under the Food Safety Act. The President designated the agency as an authority under the Health Ministry, with expanded powers.
Although a similar agency previously existed within the Health Ministry, the new establishment was required by the Food Safety Act, which mandates the creation of an agency with the same name. As a result, the former Maldives Food and Drug Authority has been officially abolished, effective immediately.
According to the presidential directive, all correspondence addressed to the newly re-established Maldives Food and Drug Authority shall use the number 182 in the numbering system for state agencies.
