Parliament to go on recess ahead of schedule

The Parliament has decided to go on recess after concluding the current session.

Under existing rules, the session was scheduled to conclude on November 30. However, the session was extended until December 15 to address pending agenda items.

Commencing Thursday’s Parliament sitting, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla announced that the Parliament would go on recess the same day, three days earlier than expected. He stated that Thursday’s Parliament sitting will continue until votes are taken on pending matters.

Despite the early recess, Thursday’s agenda includes legally time-sensitive issues that need to be addressed by the Parliament. It remains unclear how the Parliament will proceed with these matters.
