Over 6,700 migrants workers deported in ongoing crackdown

The Homeland Security Ministry has reported that over 6,700 migrant workers have been deported from the Maldives.
According to the Ministry, 6,750 foreigners have been deported so far in an operation launched to identify illegal migrant workers in the Maldives. Most of the deportees were found working in fields other than those for which they had permits.
Immigration is conducting a series of raids in Male’ City and some islands to identify illegal migrants. The government has repeatedly expressed its commitment to solving the issue of illegal migrants in the Maldives within the next three years.
