Over 100,000 tourist arrivals from the UK
More than 100,000 tourists have visited the Maldives from the UK so far this year, statistics have shown.
According to the Tourism Ministry, 100,830 tourists visited the Maldives from UK as of Tuesday. While a total of 1.1 million tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, nine percent accounts for UK tourists. With this figure, the country is currently the third largest source market for Maldives tourism.
China remains the Maldives’ largest tourism market, contributing 144,577 tourists this year. Russia follows as the second-largest market with 119,060 visitors. Italy, Germany, and India also rank among the top sources of tourists, with 84,296, 83,653, and 69,022 visitors respectively.
The Tourism Ministry noted that the total number of tourists visiting the Maldives so far this year has increased by 9.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
