One has died and several others injured in an accident involving a landing craft belonging to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)βs SIWEK welfare company.
According to MNDF, the landing craft capsized while traveling through the Kaashidhoo Kandu. The number of people aboard the vessel at the time of the incident, or any other information regarding the operation has not been disclosed this far.
Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital has confirmed that the deceased is a Maldivian national. In addition to the deceased, five additional people have been brought in for treatment following the accident, and more people are being brought, the hospital said.
