Homeland Ministry sets April 20 deadline for foreign workers’ biometric update

The deadline for updating the biometrics of foreigners working in the Maldives is April 20, the Homeland Security Ministry has said.

The Homeland Security Ministry Wednesday said foreigners who do not update their biometrics within this period will be deported.

The ministry had earlier instructed employers to work with local councils to update the biometrics of foreign workers working in the atolls before March 1. The ministry also advised to update the biometric data of foreigners working in resorts, safaris, agricultural islands and other industrial islands by coordinating with the National Center for Information Technology (NCIT) or the nearest council office. The ministry warned that those who do not update their biometrics within this period will be suspended from the Expat system and services will not be available to them.
