MP Falah elected Chair of new Housing Committeee
The ruling Peoples National Congress’s Parliamentary Group Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah has been elected as the Chair of the newly constituted Housing Committee of the Parliament.
The new committee was formed under the Rules of the 20th Parliament. The committee is tasked with studying housing-related matters, recommending changes to national housing policies, and liaising with relevant agencies.
Additionally, the committee is also responsible for monitoring the progress of government-implemented social housing projects, identifying challenges faced in the implementation of the projects, and making recommendations to the government for the timely completion of the projects. It also focuses on ensuring equitable right to shelter for all citizens, studying housing issues faced by citizens and making recommendations to the government on possible measures to address these issues.
The committee’s formation and membership were confirmed during Wednesday’s Parliament session. The committee is constituted such that it has representation from all city councils. The elected members are:

At the committee’s inaugural meeting, MP Hussain Imran Latheef was elected Vice Chair alongside Chair MP Falah.
