MNDF drains over 16,900 tonnes of floodwater from Male’, continues efforts in islands

The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has successfully drained over 16,911 tonnes of water from Male’ following heavy rainfall that lasted from Saturday evening to early Sunday.
According to MNDF, floodwaters have now been cleared form Male’, and streets have returned to normal. Therefore, flood drainage operations in the capital have been temporarily suspended.
On Saturday, MNDF provided assistance to 131 households affected by flooding, and placed 976 sandbags to prevent further flood damage.
The MNDF is still working to drain water from some islands flooded by the current rains, including in K. Huraa, K. Guraidhoo, K. Himmafushi, K. Thulusdhoo, K. Maafushi, and ADh. Maamigili.
