Maldives sees surge in fish exports in early 2025

The Maldives has recorded an increase in fish exports in the first two months of this year.

The central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) said the Maldives exported 14,222.6 metric tonnes of fish in January and February this year. This is an increase of 3,695.9 metric tonnes compared to 10,526.7 metric tonnes of fish exported during the same period last year.

Among the various types of fish exports, skipjack tuna topped the list with 10,402 metric tonnes. During the same period last year, this value was at 6,455 metric tonnes.

The Maldives also exported 2,468 metric tonnes of yellowfin tuna and 750 metric tonnes of canned and poached fish.
