Maldives sees rise in inflation in September

Statistics have shown that the prices of goods and services in the Maldivian market rose in September.

According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), inflation rose by 1.14 percent in September. This is an increase of 0.16 percent compared to the previous month.

Several goods and services saw price hikes last month:

Vegetables: 3.95 percent
Electricity: 1.70 percent
Other outpatient care service: 1.24 percent
Milk and other dairy products and eggs: 0.83 percent
Air transportation: 0.82 percent
Meat: 0.82 percent

In contrast, NBS said the price of tuna fell by 2.69 percent in September while mobile communications services fell by 0.38 percent during the same period. Additionally, clothing prices fell 0.29 percent.
