Maldives reaches 1.5 min tourist arrivals
The Maldives has welcomed over 1.5 million tourists thus far this year, statistics have shown.
According to the Tourism Ministry, this marks a 9.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year, with an additional 131,185 tourists. In 2023, the 1.5 millionth tourist visited the Maldives on October 28 of that year.
China continues to lead as the leading source market, contributing over 227,000 tourists. The 10 countries for tourism arrivals are:
China – 227,400 tourists
Russia – 165,300 tourists
United Kingdom – 127,700 tourists
Germany – 109,700 tourists
Italy – 107,623 tourists
India – 92,000 tourists
United States – 51,100 tourists
France – 41,400 tourists
Spain – 35,000 tourists
Switzerland – 28,600 tourists
A total of 1,224 tourist destinations are currently operating in the Maldives. These include 171 resorts, 887 guesthouses, 152 safaris and 14 hotels.
