Maldives gov’t launches study to develop national Happiness Index
The Maldives government has initiated a study to develop a national happiness index. The project is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, and the Islamic University of Maldives.
A workshop was held at the Islamic University on Wednesday, where various stakeholders discussed methodologies and approaches that can be utilized for the project. Local Government Minister Adam Shareef was also in attendance at the workshop.
Currently, the Maldives does not have a formal happiness index, a metric that has been established in several developed countries. The index measures happiness based on the living conditions of the citizens of the country.
