Int’l flight movements at VIA increase by three percent
The number of international flight movements at the Maldives’ main international airport, Velana International Airport (VIA) has risen in the first six months of this year.
According to the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), international flight movements increased by three percent compared to the same period last year. By the end of the first half of this year, there were 8,337 international flight movements, up from 8,073 in the same period last year.
According to statistics, out of the total flight movements, 7,611 were scheduled flights, while 726 movements were charter and private flights.
Over one million tourists had visited the Maldives by the end of June.
