Inflation drops by 0.07 percent
Prices in the Maldives fell 0.07 percent in October compared to September this year.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October, published by the National Bureau of Statistics, shows that prices of goods and services, excluding fish prices, fell 0.17 percent. Although October’s inflation rate was lower compared to September, the inflation rate rose to 2.94 percent in October this year compared to the same period last year.
According to the CPI, prices of fruits and vegetables fell in October. While rental prices fell by 0.75 percent, prices of fruits fell by 2.28 percent and vegetables by 1.80 percent.
In October, prices rose for milk, dairy products, and eggs by 0.33 percent, while footwear prices rose 2.22 percent. Hairdressing and beauty prices rose 6.99 percent.
