Immigration detains seven foreigners in raids on homes and cafeterias
The Maldives Immigration has taken into custody seven foreigners who were living illegally in two cafeterias in Male’ City.
Immigration today said it had raided four locations in Male’ City on September 16 as part of an operation to search crowded accommodation blocks that pose a threat to public safety and security. They included two houses and two cafeterias, and a total of seven foreigners who were illegally living at the premises have now been taken into immigration custody.
Immigration has been conducting several operations to track down illegal immigrants. More than 3,500 foreigners have been deported since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took office in November 2023.
