Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon has stated the police to play a major role in President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s development vision for the country, and requested the police to ensure their conduct is aligned with the President’s vision. Ghassan made the request while addressing at the graduation ceremony of the 38th Police Basic Training Course on Saturday.
In his address, Minister Ghassan said President Muizzu took an oath to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to him by the people. These responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of the country and its people, he said, adding that the President is fulfilling his responsibilities effectively.
“The President is working to maintain the independence and sovereignty of the country, while also striving to make it a prosperous country,” Ghassan said.
The Minister said a country can only develop and prosper if its freedom, independence, security and justice are ensured. The people’s property must also protected, he added. The minister said the police have a great responsibility in achieving these goals.
“Your efforts to make the country a peaceful and secure environment will brighten the future of the country,” he said.
Ghassan acknowledged that being a police officer is a significant responsibility and therefore, officers should be committed to serving the people. He also urged the police to be loyal to the country and priorotise the country above all other duties.
