Chinese tourists arrivals in Maldives surpass 233,300
The number of Chinese tourists visiting the Maldives thus far this year has crossed 233,300.
China currently tops the charts as the top source of visitors to the country, accounting for 14.8 percent of the total market share. According to Tourism Ministry statistics, 233,332 Chinese tourists have visited the Maldives thus far this year, a significant 45 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Russia ranks as the second largest source market, with 172,142 tourists visiting from the country. This is 61,190 tourists fewer than China.
A total of 1,573,991 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, an increase of 9.5 percent compared to the same period last year. The Maldives currently receives an average of 5,123 tourists daily.
The ministry expects the Maldives to reach its target of attracting two million tourists this year by December.
