President’s UK visit cost MVR 153k, says PO

The President’s Office has disclosed that the office spent a total of MVR 153,689.92 for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s recent trip to the United Kingdom.
The President traveled to the UK on 1 April to attend the launch of the co-brand campaign between Liverpool Football Club and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to promote Maldivian tourism.
During his visit, the President visited the state-of-the-art AXA Training Center in Liverpool, and discussed the possibilities for the development of Maldivian football and how opportunities can be created for rising promising players.
The President also met with Maldivian students studying in Liverpool. He also visited the University of Leeds in the UK and discussed cooperation between the Maldives and the University. The President is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Leeds, completing his PhD in Civil Engineering from the university in 2009.
The President also reinstated No. 9 Rosemont Avenue, London as the premises of the Maldivian Students’ Association-UK (MSA-UK) during his visit.
