MMA launches dedicated research fund
The central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has established a dedicated fund to promote research work.
The fund was inaugurated by Dr. Mahmoodh Shaugee, Chancellor of Maldives National University (MNU), at a two-day research conference organized by MMA.
The central bank said the fund is kicking off an initial allocation of MVR 1 million. Its purpose is to encourage research and create a supportive environment for those conducting research in the Maldives.
During the conference, MMA signed two key agreements. While one agreement, signed with Dhiraagu, focuses on advancing research for a sustainable future and promoting innovative products, the second agreement was signed with Malaysiaβs Islam Selangor University to promote economic research and cooperation in education and innovation.
The conference also discussed the challenges facing the Maldivesβ economy as well as economic opportunities in the country.
