NSPA confirms Aasandha coverage for cases not covered by private insurance
The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has announced that the Aasandha health insurance scheme will continue to cover medical expenses in cases where private insurance is either unavailable or lacks specific coverage.
NSPA made the announcement after some private insurance companies suspended cashless services following a new government directive stating that effective November 1, Aasandha will no longer cover medical expenses for individuals with private insurance until their private insurance benefits are fully utilized.
Referring to NSPA’s October 31 announcement on private healthcare providers giving priority to private insurance in billing for “out-patient” services, the agency clarified that as also stated in the previous announcement, Aasandha will still apply if a patient lacks private insurance or if certain services are excluded from their private policy.
“Whenever you are not covered by your private insurance policy and are required to pay out of pocket, even if this results from the suspension of cashless payments by private insurers, Aasandha coverage will remain in place,” NSPA stated.
NSPA has expressed concern over the spread of misleading information related to these changes.
