Resort occupancy in the Maldives has seen an increase from January to August this year, according to the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
MMA statistics show that resort occupancy was at 73.6 percent from January to August this year, a notable increase compared to 68.4 percent during the same period last year. Occupancy of resorts and safari vessels also increased during the period. However, a decline was recorded in guesthouse and tourist hotel occupancy.

MMA reported a month-on-month improvement in August occupancy rates, with resort occupancy rising to 76.5 percent, up from 69 percent in July. Guesthouse and safari vessel occupancy also increased from July to August, with guest house occupancy rate at 31.8 percent in July, and 32.1 percent in August. Meanwhile, safari vessel occupancy rose from 31.8 percent in July to 32.1 percent in August. Similarly, hotel occupancy rose from 21.8 percent in July to 28.2 percent in July.
