Police have launched an investigation into reports of a minor being kidnapped and assaulted in Laamu Gan.
The child’s mother posted on social media that the child was kidnapped from their home while sleeping, by peers of the same age. According to the post, perpetrators gained entry through a window, and threatened the child before taking the child to a secluded area where he was physically assaulted, the mother wrote.
The mother said the incident was orchestrated by a group of youths led by a school-aged minor. She said her child was stripped naked and beaten with a stick, and the ordeal was videotaped by the perpetrators. The group demanded the child pay them if he did not want the video to be leaked.
The mother expressed her distress on social media, and asked if the victim would get the same “rights” as the perpetrators. She asked for justice for her child.
Police said the incident had come to their attention and are actively working with relevant authorities to gather more information and investigate the matter.
