Housing Minister confirms land handover from Hulhumale’ Phase III to begin in Nov
Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haidhar has stated that the land allocated under the previous government’s Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme from Hulhumale’ Phase III is expected to start being handed over in November this year.
Responding to an inquiry by MP Mohamed Ibrahim at Monday’s Parliament session, Minister Haidhar said the previous government had allocated land from lagoons and the sea. In this regard, the previous government had allocated 699 plots of land from Hulhumale’ Phase III from the lagoon, he said.
“The practical work of handing over the land plots following the dredging of Phase Three is expected to start by November this year,” Haidhar said.
He also highlighted challenges with the land allocated from Hulhumale’ Phase II, where some plots had been allocated from areas containing government company equipment storage sites, roads, alleys, and electrical infrastructure such as pipes and boxes.
“Out of the 1,407 plots to be handed over from Phase II, 623 plots have already been handed over to the owners after resolving issues, removing sandpiles, relocating electricity boxes, and clearing the land,” Minister Haidhar reported.
The minister added that all remaining land in the second phase of the project would be handed over by October this year.
