The Bank of Maldives (BML) has temporarily suspended the use of internet banking and FAVARA for payroll and bulk transfer processing.
According to the bank, requests for payroll and bulk transfers should now be submitted only via email for processing.
This change follows a recent incident where over $77 billion was mistakenly deposited into the accounts of some resort employees as salary. The error was reportedly caused by a change in the bulk payment system.
