Maldives sees significant increase in tourist arrivals
The number of tourists visiting the Maldives in July has seen a s significant increase compared to the same period last year.
Traditionally, June-July is considered the low season for Maldives tourism. However, the figures for the period this year indicate a significant increase in arrivals.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, 144,279 tourists have arrived in the Maldives thus far this month. This is a 15 percent increase compared to July last year when 125,424 tourists visited the Maldives.
Currently, China is the leading source market for Maldives tourism, with 153,180 arrivals. Russia follows with 123,153 arrivals, while the UK is in the third position with 103,051 tourist arrivals. Italy ranks fourth with 85,661 arrivals.
Statistics show that an average of 5,000 tourists arrive in the Maldives daily. There are currently 182 resorts, 14 hotels, 867 guesthouses, and 52 safari vessels operating in the Maldives.
