Maldives maintains top spot as most powerful passport in southern region
The Maldivian passport has maintained its position as the most powerful passport in the South Asian region.
Maldivian passports can be used to travel to 94 countries without a visa.
According to the latest Passport Index released by Henley & Partners, the Maldivian passport has advanced nine positions in this year’s ranking, moving from 61st place last year to 59th.
The Indian passport, ranked 82nd, is the second most powerful among South Asian countries. Bhutan follows in third place at 87th, while Sri Lanka is 93rd, Bangladesh is 97th, and Nepal is 98th.
Singapore leads the global rankings this year, surpassing Japan. Singaporean passport holders enjoy visa-free travel to 195 countries.
