FAM management to be handed over to normalization committee
FIFA has decided to hand over the management of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) to a normalization committee. This decision follows the suspension of FAM President Bassam Adeel Jaleel from all football-related activities for nine months and the expiration of the last elected FAM Executive Committee’s term on July 2.
Although FIFA has decided to normalize the FAM, the normalization committee has not yet been formed. According to reports, FIFA is currently reviewing CVs from individuals with experience in Maldivian football to assemble the normalization committee. Once formed, the nominalization committee will be given until July 31 next year to resolve the issues within FIFA.
In a similar move, FIFA has also decided to transfer the management of Tunisia’s main football body to a normalization committee.
