JSC concludes final hearings for suspended Supreme Court Justices

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has concluded the final hearings in the investigation into suspended Supreme Court justices, Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir and Dr Azmiralda Zahir.

The two cases were heard separately on Sunday morning, with Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir’s hearing held at 9:00 am and Azmiralda’s case at 10:00 am. Both judges are accused of influencing a Criminal Court judge’s decision making, allegations that both have denied.

The JSC rules judges are granted seven days to respond to the final investigation report before a decision is made. Both Justice Mahaz and Justice Azmiralda submitted their responses within the deadline.

The JSC also initiating proceedings against former Supreme Court Justice Husnu Al-Suood. However, he later resigned amid the investigation.
