Maldives Correctional Service (MCS)’s officers and employees have come together to raise to support families of inmates and detainees that are facing financial hardship.
Through MSC’s Ramadan Special Assistance Programme, MVR 2,220 was provided to each of the 10 families that met the eligibility criteria, out of 21 applicants.
The programme originally aimed to assist 40 families. The requirements to qualify for the assistance included having a relative who has been serving a sentence for at least five years in prison, having children under the age of 18, and demonstrating financial need.
